Itinerary Day 1: Kota Kinabalu city – National Park – Laban Rata

NOTE:

  • Day 1 cannot be on the same day as your arrival flight due to time constraints
  • Day 2, advise Departure flight after 2000 hrs to avoid missed flight.
Pickup from city hotel for a 2 ½ hours drive to Kinabalu National Park. Kinabalu Park, is 1600 metre above sea level and has a cool climate, it is also home to Mount Kinabalu.

Upon arrival, proceed to Park office to register with Park Administration Office for your Summit Climb. Meet your Mountain Guide.

Depart for the Starting Point of the Summit Trail. Ascend up to 11,000 feet with packed lunch from Balsam Restaurant. Check in to Laban Rata Resthouse. Free at Leisure. Dinner and Overnight at Laban Rata Resthouse.

Itinerary Day 2: Laban Rata – Mount Kinabalu Summit – Kota Kinabalu city
0200 hrs wakeup call and ascend the summit trail with torchlight. Arrive at summit – Picture taking & enjoy the sunrise on top of the highest point in Malaysia.

0630hrs, descend to 11,000 feet Laban Rata Resthouse for Breakfast. After breakfast, gear up and descend to Power Station. 1200 hrs approximate time of arrival at the Power Station (depending on climber speed).

Lunch at Balsam Restaurant. Meet at the park headquarters at 1400 hrs.

Depart back to city hotel around 1600 hrs or Kota Kinabalu International Airport for your flight.

Itinerary Day 1: Kota Kinabalu city – National Park

NOTE:

  • Your flight to Kota Kinabalu should not arrive on Day 1 of the tour.
  • Day 2, advise Departure flight after 2000hrs to avoid missed flight.

Pick up from city hotel for a 2 ½ hours’ drive to Kinabalu National Park. Kinabalu Park, 1600 metre above sea level with soothing temperature and an area of 754 sq km, is home to Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in south East Asia. Upon reaching the park, the guide will assist to register and brief guest regarding the Mt Climbing progress on Day 2 especially for what/where to do/go since our transfer guide is not joining the climb with guest.

Dinner at Balsam café. Overnight at Kinabalu Park.

Itinerary Day 2: National Park – Laban Rata
Breakfast at Balsam Restaurant. Proceed to Park office to register with Park Administration Office for your Summit Climb. Meet your Mountain Guide.

Depart for the Starting Point of the Summit Trail. Ascend up to 11,000 feet with packed lunch from Balsam Restaurant. Check in to Laban Rata Resthouse. Free at Leisure.

Dinner and Overnight at Laban Rata Resthouse.

Itinerary Day 3: Laban Rata – Mount Kinabalu Summit – Kota Kinabalu city
0200 hrs wakeup call and ascend the summit trail with torchlight. Arrive at summit – Picture taking & enjoy the beautiful sunrise.

0630hrs, descend to 11,000 feet Laban Rata Resthouse for Breakfast. After breakfast, gear up and descend to Power Station. Approximate time of arrival at the Power Station is 12 noon.

Lunch at Balsam Restaurant. Meet at the park headquarters at 1400 hrs. Depart back to city hotel around 1600 hrs or Kota Kinabalu International Airport for your flight.

Mount Kinabalu Via Farrata: WALK THE TORQ or LOW’S PEAK CIRCUIT
(Minimum Age: Walk the Torq 10 years old/Low’s Peak Circuit 16 years old)

Itinerary Day 1: Kota Kinabalu city – Mount Kinabalu

  • 0630hrs Early morning departure to Kinabalu Park. The journey will take approximately 2 hrs.
  • A brief stop at Nabalu Market for an opportunity to buy local handicrafts and local fruits.
  • 0800hrs Arrival at Kinabalu Park, pre-check in at Via Ferrata office and at Kinabalu Park’s office, and then the real adventure begins as you will proceed to the Power Station/Timpohon Gate by coach for the start of our 2-day climb of Mount Kinabalu.
  • The trekking will take about 5-8 hours, depending on individual fitness level.
  • 1500hrs Arrival at the Pendant Hut, which is situated at an altitude of 3,289m. Meet your Mountain Torq Trainer for a mandatory Via Ferrata familiarization and Safety Briefing.
  • Dinner at Laban Rata Restaurant. Overnight stay at Pendant Hut.

Itinerary Day 2: Mount Kinabalu Summit – Via Farrata activities – Kota Kinabalu city

  • 0130hrs Wake up early and have a meal before your ascend by torchlight to the Low’s Peak summit. The climb takes about three hours but you will be well rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise (weather permitting).
  • Descend from the Summit. Meet Mt Torq’s Trainer at Sayat Sayat Hut (0715hrs) for the Walk the Torq activity (French Grade PD) or at 7.5km mark (0630hrs) for Low’s Peak Circuit activity (French Grade AD).
  • The Walk the Torq activity will take 2 to 3 hours while the Low’s Peak Circuit will take 4 to 5 hours to complete. Return to Pendant Hut for a well-earned breakfast, check out and continue descend to Timpohon Gate, which will takes about 4 to 5 hours.
  • Arrive at Park Headquarters to collect your Certificate of Achievement and transfer back to Kota Kinabalu.

  • Return to Pendant Hut to wash up and head to Laban Rata for a well earned lunch.
  • Afternoon, recuperate from the 11+ hrs day, have a well deserved nap, sit in the sun (weather permitting) and have a cup of the famous Sabah Tea at the base of Pendant Hut while watching the therapeutic mountain scenery.
  • Dinner at Laban Rata’s canteen.

Itinerary Day 3: Descend from Mount Kinabalu – Return to Kota Kinabalu city
(Day 3 is the backup day for another summit attempt if the previous day was not successful)

  • Wake up, pack up and have breakfast. Check out from Pendant Hut and continue descend to Timpohon Gate, which will take 4 to 5 hours.
  • Arrival at Park Headquarters to collect your Certificate of Achievement and transfer back to Kota Kinabalu city.
